The weight of water limits the number of
different baggage that you can take with you on a long bike ride. Not always
have the opportunity to stop and refill drinking water from a clean stream or
fountain to drink. However, there is another source of water - and it's the
air. Austrian industrial designer created a prototype of a special system,
which turns moist air into pure drinking water. Of course, you need to take BPA free bike water bottles.
This device fastened to the bicycle frame
and consists of a capacitor and a water collecting bottle. On top of the
capacitor is a solar panel that feeds the energy of the capacitor itself. The
powerful air stream is generated when the bicycle motion, enters the special
channel, where it is cooled, which leads to condensation. Drops of water flow
into the bottle located under the capacitor. At the entrance to the channel is
a filter that prevents various midges or dust get into the system.
Unfortunately, the filter is not effective against air pollution, which can
lead to damage of the collected water. While the system is provided with
another special filter, it is better not to use in urban environments. At this
point the system is capable of producing a minute drop of water in air with
humidity of at least 50 percent and a temperature of at least 20 degrees
Celsius. Thus, it appears that it will take an extremely long time to type an
entire bottle of water. The inventor himself lives in Vienna, which is not
known for air humidity, so he had to conduct experiments in private.
Presumably, in areas with high humidity system can produce about half a liter
of water per hour. And if you are going cycling, you can get almost all kinds of
bicycle accessories, such as road bike gear cover, half finger tactical gloves, at banggood.com for nice prices
and good quality.
This technology is aimed not only at what
to quench the thirst of travelers - it can save lives. More than 780 million
people on the planet do not have a constant and reliable access to safe
drinking water, and the problem will only get worse in view of permanent
climate change. And air condensation in the water may become the method that is
able to meet the growing demand. Naturally, this is not the first attempt to
extract water from the air, but it is the method currently seems the most
promising.
