How to dry-clean your bike

If you’re into motorized bike modification, then your bike maintenance is extremely important. And sometimes, it’s not that good to clean your bike with water since your engine might be affected. In this case, dry-clean seems to be a more secure and proper option.

A clean bike makes you feel ease and your riding performance will be better, and the most important thing is to reduce vehicle wear and tear. If you are worried about the car wash water will rust the bottom bracket, headset, and hubs, so try dry cleaning.

In order to avoid wasted effort, before cleaning the chain, it is recommended to check whether you need to replace the chain. The chain is not recommended to clean with industrial degreasers such as kerosene because they easily washed off the inner link grease. Clean cotton cloth and bicycle special chain cleanser is the best choice. First spray the cleaner on the chain and cloth, with a cloth wrapped around the chain, while the reverse rotation of the crank at the bottom, you will see the accumulation of dirt on the cloth,  if the cloth is too dirty, replace a clean cloth to wipe until the chain become new again.

Flywheel

Remove the rear wheel of the bike. Spray the bike special grease cleaner on flywheel and rag, and do not use the solvent such as kerosene either. The rear should be upright in stable place. Insert the dishcloth into the gap between the flywheel and pull it back and forth, suggesting that the cloth should be cut into strips to enhance the utilization and cost savings. If the flywheel is very dirty, you may need more detergent and cloth strips.

After the cleaning is completed, apply an appropriate amount of chain oil to the chain, then good job! The higher the frequency of cleaning the bike, the better the performance of spare parts, and repair and replacement parts costs are lower, give your car a dry bath now.
