How to choose a Bicycle Saddle?

If you are addicted to ride your bike, you will know a high-quality bicycle saddle is really vital. In my view, memory foam bike seat cover should be the solid pick. You can fix it without fixed gear stems. But do you know what should be kept in mind when choosing a bicycle saddle?

The key when choosing a saddle is that your measurements and shape will fit our anatomy, any biomechanic will tell you that the bike is the one that should suit us, not us to the bike. In the case of the saddle this becomes even more important if it fits.

Seat width
The part about which our body must deposit all its weight is called "Ischial Tuberosity" or "Isquiones", are the two bony appendages that we see in the image, whose distance between them will vary between man or woman.
It is precisely this distance that we must measure to choose a saddle whose width adequately accommodates these bones.
In case of using a wider or narrower saddle we will be depositing the weight on our soft tissues (understanding by soft tissues the sexual organs and the skin or fat that can surround them). This would result in pains, scrapes and possibly quite uncomfortable injuries.

Seat length and shape
The length of a saddle, as opposed to the width, is not a measure to take into account when choosing it.

However, depending on the type of cycling we practice (road, mountain, triathlon) we want to have greater or lesser mobility forwards or backwards to correct position or accommodate us.

You may have seen saddles without a "nose", these only include the anterior support in the ischia, so that there is no pressure on the posterior soft tissues.

The T-shaped saddle is narrow at the nose and especially in the transition towards the front, while the "Pera" saddle has a more stepped transition.

The difference in "behavior" between the two lies in the ease of movement offered by the "Pear" shaped saddle in front of the little friction in the legs and the rear attachment that is obtained with the T-shaped saddle. Who prefer to be in a fixed position will choose the T-shaped saddle, unlike those who prefer to have freedom of movement, which will be chosen by the other.

In a word, a bicycle saddle is as important as a chain protector to the bike.
