As you know, I’m a fishing enthusiast. However,
during the past one year, I had no much spare time to go fishing, and I had to
work because I graduated from my college school last July. Most years I look at
myself and arrive at boring and ordinary resolutions; lose weight, catch up on
chores around the house, and get my taxes done early so I don’t stress out. This
year I’m taking a different approach and it’s one based on a line my fishing
buddy uses: “you only go around once in life, but if you do it right, once
is enough.”
I tend to go in spurts, where I’ll fish
hard for weeks on end when the bite is hot. But I miss a lot of fishing time.
My New Year’s fishing resolution is to go often all season, take my fishing chair bag and fishing hook tying tools to more
place. There are
several fishing spots a decent drive away, and I’ve always wanted to
hit them. My issue has always been focusing on my home water, but this
year I’ll make an effort to experiment with other great places to
fish.
I’m surrounded by the salt, and the kettle
ponds are fun once in a while. That means I really like moving water so
I’m going to head to a few rivers and streams that I used to fish. And
I’ll hit a few new fishing spots along the way just to check them
out.
I’ve never caught Pacific salmon, but
work is taking me to places to fish near triple tail, so I’ll add a
day or two around work to see if I can get it done. You can also try!
